Johanna

Hello,

My name is Johanna. I am 18 years old and I am from a town near Munich. In my spare time, I enjoy playing sports, reading, being a Scout and getting involved in our local church community, including helping out with the children’s service.

Having passed my A-levels this year, I will be spending ten months in Bafoussam, a town in western Cameroon, from the end of August as part of the EMS Ecumenical Volunteer Programme. While there, I will be working in a school and a hospital with an eye clinic. I’m really looking forward to both roles. However, I’m even more excited about immersing myself in a completely different culture, getting to know the local people and gaining lots of new experiences. I hope that this experience will provide me with a fresh perspective on my life in Germany, help me to grow through the challenges, and teach me new things about myself.

Of course, I’ll miss many things, such as my family and friends, and probably lots of other things that I haven’t even noticed were special until now. Nevertheless, I’m excited to see what lies ahead.

I hope I can convey my experiences well in this blog, and I’d love to hear your comments.
