Jona

Dear readers and friends,

My name is Jona, I’m 18 years old, and I’m from Ravensburg, which is near Lake Constance.

Having finished my A-levels this year, I will be living and working in Blimbingsari, Bali, for ten months next year.

I grew up with my parents and two older sisters. When my sister completed her voluntary service in 2017/18, I knew that I wanted to do the same. Even as a child, I was fascinated by other cultures and countries, and my first dream job at the age of eight was to become a marine biologist in Australia. Although this dream changed over time, my desire to experience new countries and cultures never wavered. For this reason, I knew that I wanted to dedicate the year after my A-levels to this.

So, when I finally received confirmation from EMS that I could travel to Indonesia, I was overjoyed.

The time is almost here: in a month’s time, I will embark on this exciting journey, with a flutter in my stomach, and fly from Frankfurt to Bali with my fellow volunteers. There, we will gather our first impressions together.

After that, I’ll head on to Blimbingsari in western Bali. There, I will be working in a children’s home for children aged 6 to 12, gaining new experiences and learning lots!

Although I am feeling some uncertainty about what lies ahead, my excitement at meeting new people and experiencing new things is already outweighing any concerns.

The next 10 months will undoubtedly be a time of self-discovery and broadening my horizons through all the new perspectives and experiences.

Through my blog, I’d love to share my experiences in Bali with you.

I’d be delighted if you’d like to follow my journey and visit my blog regularly.

Thank you very much for your interest, and I hope to see you very soon!

Jona
