Hello, or rather, ‘مرحبًا’.

I’m Julia, and I’m really looking forward to my voluntary service in Jordan!

Over the next few months, I’d love to share my experiences and impressions of Jordan with you so that you can get an idea of what my time at TSS is like.

A bit about myself: I’m 22 years old, I’m originally from Düsseldorf, and I finished my A-levels in 2019. Since then, I’ve completed an office administration apprenticeship and I’m currently studying International Social Work in Nijmegen, the Netherlands, which I’m really enjoying!

On 1 September, I’ll be heading to Amman for ten months to attend the Theodor-Schneller-Schule, where an exciting new chapter awaits me. I’m looking forward to immersing myself in a new country, culture, language and people. Most of all, though, I’m excited about working with the children!

At the boarding school, Christian and Muslim children are taught together with the aim of fostering peaceful coexistence, which I find really interesting and impressive. I will mainly be supporting the children during the afternoon care programme, which includes activities such as homework and leisure pursuits.

I’m looking forward to experiencing this new chapter with Caro and combining our strengths and energy!

See you soon,
Julia
