My name is Katharina. I’m 19 years old, and I come from a small village called Epe in North Rhine-Westphalia, close to the Dutch border.

I’d known for quite some time that I wanted to go to university after finishing my A-levels. However, at some point I decided that after 13 years of school, I should take a short break abroad – because if not now, then when?!

I wanted to do something that not everyone does, so I started looking into the various options. That’s when I came across the Weltwärts website and, shortly afterwards, EMS.

In September, I’ll be travelling to India for ten months to live at the Bethania Girls Home in Kannur, Kerala, and provide support.

I’m looking forward to new challenges and experiences in a new country.

I hope to gain a different perspective on myself and, through my blog, help to dispel any preconceptions you might have. From September onwards, I hope to share lots of wonderful things about India with you.
