Lena

Hello there!

I’m Lena, I’m 19 years old, and I finished my A-levels this year. I’m really looking forward to seeing more of the world and hopefully discovering lots of new perspectives.

I’ve played football and the piano for as long as I can remember, but I’m also interested in philosophy, environmental protection, literature, singing, volleyball, and almost everything really.

Now that I’m no longer tied to school, I want to learn from life rather than books and discover what is important to me, free from the influences of a consumer society.

I also want to use my time in Elim, a small village cut off from the rest of the world, to do everything I don’t usually have time for. I very much hope to meet open-minded, warm-hearted people from whom I can learn and perhaps draw inspiration for my future career as a psychologist or doctor.

So far, I have gained experience working with adults with epilepsy and children with disabilities through short-term placements. Working with people with disabilities on a long-term basis will be a completely new experience for me, and I am sure that I will learn a great deal from it. Above all, I see non-verbal communication as a particular challenge that I am very much looking forward to.
