A change of scenery

Dear readers and friends,

First, I’d like to briefly introduce myself. My name is Lisa, I’m 23 years old and I was born and raised in Stuttgart. Now that I have earned my degree and completed my training, I feel the urge to venture out into the world once again. I am privileged to be spending the next 10 months at Bethania Student’s Home in Kannur, Kerala (India).

My deep interest in other countries and cultures has made me incredibly excited about this opportunity. Thanks to my family, who are scattered all over the world, I’ve already had some experience of other cultures, customs and traditions. However, I believe it is important to gain new experiences in this area independently. I’m also curious to see how I will change during this time.

In my free time, I spend a lot of time with my friends, for example at the art academy in Stuttgart, and I enjoy painting and art in general.

I also exercise regularly and try to maintain a yoga routine. I plan to further develop my meditation skills during my stay in India.

I hope to create a space for creativity with the girls and young women at the Student’s Home, where we can express ourselves through painting, crafting, singing and dancing.

Of course, I’ll focus on the tasks assigned to me, assist the Bethania Student’s Home director in the office and do my best with any other work that arises. I hope I’ll get on well with everyone, and I’m looking forward to everything that lies ahead.
