A Change of Scenery
Hello, and a warm welcome to my blog!
I’m Milena, I’m 18 years old, and I’ll be living and working in Indonesia for the next few months. I’m originally from Reinbek, a small town on the outskirts of Hamburg. I’m involved in the local church, I sing in the school and church choirs, and I love reading. Having finished my A-levels this year, I am now looking forward to the next chapter of my life.
I’ve travelled a lot with my family, but I always knew that I wanted to travel alone after school. The only problem was deciding how, as there are so many possibilities these days.
As I wanted to live in a country for a longer period of time rather than just visiting briefly as a tourist, I opted for the ÖFP. I hope this will enable me to get to know Indonesia and its people better and experience the country more deeply.
I’m setting off in a few weeks and I’m very excited about my time in Indonesia! At my placement in Kendari, on the island of Sulawesi, I will mainly be working with children and young people. I’ll be sharing my experiences, encounters and adventures on this blog.
I hope that my time abroad will provide me with many unforgettable experiences and friends, as well as a change of perspective. I am also looking forward to experiencing church life in Indonesia, where faith is practised very differently. I can’t wait to learn more about myself, work with children and young people, and find out more about Indonesia.
Enjoy reading!
