Hello everyone,
I’m Sarah, I’m 24 years old, and I currently live in Zwickau. I’m originally from a small village near Naila in Upper Franconia. In my spare time, I enjoy making music, either by singing or playing the cajón or piano, as well as doing sports such as dancing and inline skating. I’m also very active in our local church and at the YMCA. Unlike most of my fellow volunteers, I didn’t come straight from school: I have already completed a Bachelor’s degree in Business Informatics and have spent the last two years working as an IT consultant.
Nevertheless, I have decided to leave my familiar surroundings behind and seize the opportunity to broaden my horizons by living and working in a foreign country as part of a voluntary service placement.
In September, I will therefore be setting off for Nandyal in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh to help out at the ‘Holy Cross Boarding Home for Girls’, a girls’ boarding school. My duties will include helping the girls with their homework, playing with them, keeping them occupied in their free time and assisting the staff with minor administrative tasks.
I’m really looking forward to my time in India, and I’m excited about the experiences I’ll have and how they will change me.
On this blog, I’ll try to share my journey and experiences with you. I hope I’ll manage to do so, and in any case, I hope you enjoy reading it!
